More than 500 experts and stakeholders arrived in Asunción, to pave the way towards global foot and mouth disease (FMD) control. These conference proceedings provide an overview of the global and regional situation for FMD and address surveillance, vaccination and diagnostic methods to move towards global control as well as the impact FMD has on international trade. This first Global Conference on FMD Control was a successful start, boosting new national and regional policies and actions with the ultimate overall aim of global control of FMD.
